Week 4 has come and gone.
Training wise, I didn’t run as much this week to give my legs a little more time to heal and prevent any further instances of shin splints. When I did go for my one and only run this week it felt really good; and I was able to do the distance without stopping to walk. Thats a huge thing for me, as I tend to force myself into a walk far too early in my runs.
One thing I have noticed, be it running, or cycling, is that I am running out of energy at fairly predictable times now. This is encouraging though since I know how to deal with this (just eat you dummy!).
I have also noticed my fitness improving slightly which is great, and a byproduct of all this energy expenditure is that I am finally losing some weight. I range in a given day anywhere from 5-6 pounds depending on what I’ve done and how much I’ve eaten. My low end weight has dropped by about 1.5 pounds, so thats encouraging. Improved fitness and weight usually go hand in hand (along with not eating cakes all day every day… but… cakes … nevermind..); My basal insulin being much lower likely has a lot to do with it as well.
I’m not complaining. One thing I might test out again this next month is going back onto Metformin… it was working really well for me in the summer and it’s likely will help me lower my carb ratios as well as further my basal insulin. We’ll see about that one, Metformin wasn’t always.. shall we say, ‘predictable’ with it’s side effects.
Thats enough for this week.
