Week 6: Blog 3

 

To further confuse the hell out of anyone reading this, this should technically be week 5: blog 3.. but this is the start of week 6 so I figured I would change up the labelling and lead with the week i am going into.

I reserve the right to change this scheme at any point.

I’m still, shall we say, fighting the good fight with my eating habits. But things are going pretty well on that front (with a slight deviation the other day with bulk barn and some wine gums.. but that’s our secret..).

I realize this blog is late; it should have been up last night but editing the video on my dad’s laptop was an exercise in frustration…. namaste you slow bastard… suffice to say I couldn’t get it done without losing my shit and destroying the computer in the process; I opted not to wreck my father’s only computer.

I’d like to briefly touch on something that has plagued me for years now; and this ironically wouldn’t have been part of this blog had it not been delayed.

Shin splints.

Those vile words that strike fear into the heart of anyone that has experienced them in some form or another. Today was a short 4 mile (6.4km) run and I couldn’t even make it a full mile without having to stop and call it a day. What annoys me so much is that most of the time I have no idea what is causing them. Weight? over training? lack of strength?

I have consciously not pushed myself too hard and my amenable coach has kept the distances rather low for me at the moment. Yet still they rear their ugly heads; I’ve tried just about everything.. rest… massage… yoga…. stretching… more resting.. but they seem to just appear whenever the hell they want.

Le sigh…. it’ll work itself out.. it usually does..
